c. Local government in a delivery role

Thematic Delivery Group

Spatial planning should be a delivery tool for sustainable community strategy. Local authorities, local strategic partnerships and other delivery agencies through local or multi area agreements should support this process – including the development of an action plan for delivering cultural and sporting infrastructure. One way of achieving this is to establish a dedicated theme group with clear lines of responsibility and accountability for culture and sport. It should have a clear focus on:

  • the delivery of resources and maximising the use of public sector cultural and sport assets, and
  • clear statements of standards and requirements for existing and new development.
